China's island province of Hainan has embarked on a green, sustainable and high-quality development journey in recent years. Hainan has built multiple large-scale photovoltaic power stations, including a centralized photovoltaic base, generating about 720 million kilowatt-hours of clean energy annually, reducing carbon emissions by 715,000 tonnes each year. Spanning about 190 hectares, the Boao zero-carbon demonstration zone, focusing on green building renovation and renewable energy adoption, successfully reduced carbon dioxide emissions from buildings and other infrastructure from 11,300 tonnes in 2019 to zero in 2024.
